We recently had the privilege of been invited to meet Logos Family Church leadership team and do some equipping. Logos is a church plant which took place some 16 years ago so much excitement and expectation was felt when Elders, Derry Channing and Desmond Windt, accompanied Missions Team, Pete Norval, Mike Channing and Gavin Bokhorst for the first time.
The 10 hour drive was soon forgotten as we arrived at Logos with a “Welkom Na Keetmans” by open armed Senior Pastor Zezito Ephafianio. We had a tour of the newly acquired church building that houses Logo Christian School, an ACE model school similar to that of ours. Zezito and his team’s hospitality was unrivalled, and we truly felt like we were at home.
Equipping took place on the Saturday and we were blessed to share with such an enthusiastic team. Derry preached on Sunday to a packed hall and the theme Step Up, Accelerate, Multiply echoed through the surroundings as the Holy Spirt move in a powerful way.
Its truly remarkable what life has sprung forth in Keetmans and what was once a desert outpost is now a thriving town. We give God the Father all the glory for that and honour those leaders who pioneered the way.
We hosted our first Christmas Carols Picnic on 23 December 2017, which was a huge success! Lots of fun was had by all and Father Christmas even arrived to hand out something small for the kids. We look forward to hosting this event again in December 2018. Look out for the date later in the year!
Mighty Men Conference is now an annual event that takes place at the end of September at Moreson Farm near Malmesbury. The event is organized and operated by Piper James under oversight of Angus Buchan. The MMC WC is committed to encourage and motivate men to reunite with God and take back their role as Spiritual leaders of their homes.
A team of 20 including 3 sons, led by Charles Vrey, a MMC veteran, graced the Event with their presence. It was a first time for our very own Uncle Sid who is over 70 years, which proved you’re never too old to try something new. Allen came with his motor home, shared it with Deon. We all snored together. There was a lot of bonding between the men on camp! Lots of eating, praising and even snoring! On Saturday evening, there was re-dedication of a few guys from our group. God’s presence was very evident and we felt in unity with one other as we worshiped our King Jesus!
We look forward to 2018 and hope to bring a larger team!.
